Cinema City opens in Baia Mare, Romania. Third Cinema City opened in Romania this year.

Today Cinema City International opens its 9th multiplex in Romania. Cinema City in Baia Mare has 6 screens and 1 775 seats and it’s equipped with 3 digital projectors. This is the 3rd Cinema City opened in the country this year. In Romania Cinema City operates 88 screens in 8 cities.

Cinema City in Baia Mare is our third opening in Romania this year following Cinema City Sun Plaza in Bucharest and Cinema City in Arad. Our Romanian multiplexes note high attendance demonstrating the demand for the top-end viewing experience offered across our chain in all countries of operation ” said Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, CEO of Cinema City, the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. “Cinema City is continuing opening new cinemas. Cinema City in Baia Mare is one of the three Cinema Cities scheduled to be opened this November. Still this month we plan to open Cinema City In Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and Cinema City in Bytom, Poland.”

Cinema City entered Romania in December 2007. Today the Company operates 9 cinemas with 88 screens including IMAX theatre in 8 cities in the country (Bucharest, Timisoara, Iasi, Cluj, Bacau, Pitesti, Arad and in Baia Mare). In the 1st half 2010 revenues from the Romanian market accounted for 7.9% of CCI’s revenues and they totalled EUR 9.1 million. Cinema City sold 1.5 thousand tickets in the first six months of 2010, what was 10.0% of all admissions sold by CCI during this time. In Romania the Company operates 12% of its screens and 29 halls are digital. In Romania Cinema City is also developing cinema advertising through New Age Media company and film distribution through Forum Film Romania being exclusive representative of the Walt Disney Studio in the country.

Development of cinema infrastructure in Romania by Cinema City will be supporting the country’s cinemagoing statistics, which in the 1st half of 2010 was on the level of 0,29 admission per capita. In the coming years the Company plans to open close to 30 projects.

Cinema City International is the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. The Company operates 72 multiplexes with 702 screens, in 6 countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Israel). There are 38 more multiplexes under development, which will offer 390 new screens. In addition, Cinema City is actively involved in cinema related advertising and film distribution.
In 2009 Cinema City sold 27,5 million tickets in six countries, 23.8% more compared to 2008.
The Cinema City group employs over 3,000 people in 6 countries.
