Forum Film Romania to become the new Disney distributer in Romania (26 February 2010)
It was announced yesterday that Forum Film Romania will become the new Disney theatrical distributer. Forum Film Romania, just being established, is an affiliate of Cinema City International group, and Romania will become the fifth territory for the group to be the Disney distributer.
“We are proud and honored to become Disney distributer in Romania and by that extend our strategic relations with the Studio. As everywhere else the group will bring it’s “know how” and experience gained in other markets to Romania and we hope that together with a strong local team, we will generate great results” – said Mooky Greidinger, Cinema City International CEO. “We look forward to the great upcoming movies to start with “Alice in Wonderland" to follow with “Prince of Persia” the new movie from the “Mega” producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and this summer “Toy Story 3” from Disney-Pixar. We wish to thank the Walt Disney Company for the trust and the opportunity” Greidinger added.
Forum Film will start its distribution with the Tim Burton highly anticipated 3D and IMAX "Alice in Wonderland” starring Johnny Depp which will premier in Romania on 5/3/2010. The movie is Tim Burton free adaptation of the beloved classic story of Lewis Carol taking place when Alice is a grown up young lady. It takes Alice for another magical adventure in wonderland where she meet Mad Hatter ( Johnny Depp ) Red Queen ( Helena Bonham Carter ), white Queen ( Anne Hathaway ) the rabbit and others. Alice in Wonderland will open Forum Film Romania remarkable slate coming from Disney studio for 2010.
Forum Film is Disney’s most veteran distributer. Forum Film Israel has been a Disney distributer for over 50 years, Forum Poland since 2003 and Forum Hungary since 2005 and Forum Film Bulgaria since 2009.
Cinema City International is the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. The Company operates 70 multiplexes with 679 screens, in 6 countries (Poland - 321 screens including 5 IMAX theatres, the Czech Republic - 47 screens including IMAX , Hungary- 116 screens including IMAX, Romania – 57 screens including IMAX, Bulgaria- 25 screens including IMAX and Israel- 113 screens). There are 42 more multiplexes under development, which will offer over 426 new screens. In addition, Cinema City is actively involved in cinema related advertising and film distribution.
In 2009 Cinema City sold 2,5 million tickets in six countries, 23.8% more compared to 2008.
The Cinema City group employs over 3,000 people in 6 countries.
