Today we are opening Cinema City Bonarka in Cracow, the largest Cinema City in Poland (26 November 2009)
Cinema City International N.V. (“Cinema City”) is opening today its megaplex Cinema City Bonarka in Cracow, Poland. This cinema has 20 screens including 3 VIP halls with a total of 3 275 seats. There are four digital projectors installed. Cinema City is now operating in Poland 28 cinemas with 316 screens and 5 IMAX theatres.

This megaplex follows the key projects already opened this year: Cinema City Cotroceni in Buchrest and Cinema City Allee in Budapest as well as six other cinemas. In 2009 we succeeded to open a record number of 105 screens including 1 IMAX theatre ” said Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, CEO of Cinema City, the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. “It’s a great opportunity to say that cinemagoing in Poland is becoming “trendier” than ever. In Poland Cinema City is operating 28 multiplexes with 316 screens including 57 auditoriums with digital projectors, which allow to show films in digital and digital 3D. The Company has binding agreements to open additional 8 multiplexes with over 80 screens in the coming three years. In Poland Cinema City is also providing cinema advertising services through the company New Age Media and film distribution through Forum Film Poland.
In 2008 the Company sold 12.6 million tickets in Poland. Poland is the largest market of operations for Cinema City with 54% share in the total Company’s revenues in 2008.
“We are going to continue exploring the potential in the Polish market. The cinema going statistics in the country are growing every year however there is still much to do to reach Western Europe attendance. We have just announced this week that Cinema City is going to open three additional cinemas in Poland: in Łódź, Toruń and in Kielce. Our strategy was since the beginning that with infrastructure developments the admission will grow and we can say again clearly that this is effective in all our territories ” – added Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger.
Cinema City International is the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. The Company operates 70 multiplexes with 6570 screens, in 6 countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Israel). There are 43 more multiplexes under development, which will offer over 433 new screens. In addition, Cinema City is actively involved in cinema related advertising and film distribution.
In 2008 Cinema City sold 22.2 million tickets in six countries, 12% more compared to 2007.
The Cinema City group employs over 3,000 people in 6 countries.
