Cinema City expands in Poland (26 September 2008)
Cinema City International N.V. (“Cinema City”) signed the lease agreement for the multiplex in Wałbrzych in Poland. The cinema in Galeria Victoria will the 33rd Cinema City in this country.
“Poland is the largest country of Cinema City operations, where we are running 50% of our screens and where we have 9 additional multiplexes in the pipeline to be opened within the next 3 years”. said Nisan Cohen, Deputy CFO of Cinema City, the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. “In Poland we are expanding our chain both in the big cities as well as in medium size cities, where the is potential to open cinema. Wałbrzych is a good example of such city where there is demand for a modern multiplex”.
The cinema in Wałbrzych will be 33rd Cinema City in Poland. Today Cinema City operates 24 multiplexes with 269 screens in this country. The Company is a leader on this market with over 50% market share in multiplex screens. Cinema City plans to open next month a new multiplex with 9 screens in Zielona Góra.
The lease for space for the multiplex in a shopping mall in Wałbrzych was signed by a Polish company from the Cinema City group and the Guava company. The new multiplex will have 6 screens and over 1,300 seats. The opening is planned for the beginning of 2010.
The company operates 60 multiplexes with a total of 552 screens.
