Cinema City in Constanta, Romania opens tomorrow.

The 13st Cinema City in Romania, over 120 screens in the country.

Tomorrow Cinema City opens its multiplex in the city of Constanta, Romania in the Maritimo shopping center. This is the 13th Cinema City in the country and the 11th Romanian city with a Cinema City multiplex. The cinema has 8 halls with 1774 seats. The cinema is 100% digital with maximum capacity for 3D projection.

Cinema City in Romania has 13 multiplexes with 122 screens already in 11 cities: : Bucharest (Cotroceni&IMAX and Sun Plaza), Iasi, Constanta, Timisoara, Pitesti, Bacau, Cluj, Braila, Baia Mare, Arad and Turgu Mures. Constanta is located in the Dobruja region on the Black Sea coast. It is one of the most important city in Romania, one of four roughly equal size cities, which rank after Bucharest.

Romania is the country, where Cinema City enjoys the most intensive organic growth of its cinema circuit. The Company has 23 binding lease agreements signed for cinemas located in shopping centers, with openings scheduled mostly in 2012-2014. The next opening is scheduled in the city of Ploiesti in the 4th quarter of 2012.

In 2011 Romanian operations generated EUR 21,8 million (increase by 20,3% over 2010), which were 8,2% of the Company’s total revenues in 2011. In Romania Cinema City sold 3.7 million tickets last year (increase by 20,5% over 2010). In addition to the theatre operation, the Company also runs cinema-related businesses: cinema advertising through New Age Media and film distribution through Forum Film Romania, which is the exclusive distributor of Walt Disney Studio, and other independent studios.

Cinema City International is the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel. The Company operates 96 multiplexes with 909 screens, in 7 countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Israel). There are 32 more multiplexes under development, which will offer approximately 330 new screens. In addition, Cinema City is actively involved in cinema related advertising and film distribution.  

In 2011 Cinema City sold 35.5 million tickets in 7 countries, 16.2% more compared to 2010.
The Cinema City group employs over 4,000 people in 7 countries.
