Cinema City opens in Toruń, Poland. Second Cinema City in Toruń and 31st in Poland

Today Cinema City International opens its 31st multiplex in Poland, its second in Toruń. The new multiplex is located in the Toruń Plaza shopping center and has 9 screens with 1 300 seats. All screens are digital.

The modern Cinema City multiplexes and professional services in the cinemas definitely support this trend. Our plans for Poland assume further openings in the coming years. This will further strengthen our position as leader on the market and support the cinema going habit across the country.” said Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, CEO of Cinema City, the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern Europe and in Israel.

Cinema City has 31 multiplexes in Poland with a total of 340 screens. The Company operates 5 Orange IMAX® theatres in the country in Warsaw, Poznan, Cracow, Katowice and Lodz. In Poland Cinema City has lease agreements for an additional 4 multiplexes with approximately 50 screens in Kielce, Łódź, Gdańsk and Lublin. The multiplex in Torun Plaza is the second Cinema City in this city. The first was opened in 2005 an has 12 screens with 2 478 seats.

Poland is by far Cinema City’s largest market , where it operates approximately 37% of all its screens. In Poland, Cinema City is also the leader in cinema advertising, run via its subsidiary, New Age Media. Film distribution within the Group is run by Forum Film Poland, which is the exclusive representative of the Walt Disney Studio in the country. In the first six months of 2011 Poland delivered 45% of total group revenues, which stood at EUR 57.1 million (down 5.5% y/y). Cinema City Poland sold 7.5 million tickets (1.7% less than in 2010). Cinema City International NV is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
